84 Chaurasi temples, Gaddi tribe
Bharmour anchors a genuinely distinctive corner of Chamba district: home to the Gaddi community, a semi-nomadic pastoral tribe, and site of the Chaurasi temple complex — 84 shrines clustered together, some dating back over a thousand years. At 2,195m, it also serves as the main base for the demanding Manimahesh Lake pilgrimage trek. Best time is June–September. Bharmour rewards travelers with a genuine interest in both architecture and living tribal culture; the Gaddi presence here isn't staged for tourism, it's simply how the town has functioned for generations.
