Bir Billing pairs India's paragliding capital with a genuine Tibetan settlement — monasteries, prayer flags, and a resident Tibetan community around Bir town at 1,525m, with the launch site at Billing 2,400m above. It gets real footfall (paragliding brings its own crowd), but it's a different kind of busy than Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj: spread out, activity-focused, without the market-alley density of McLeod's tourist strip. Best time is March–June or September–November, when flying conditions are stable and the weather comfortable at both altitudes.
