Chitkul is the last inhabited village before the Indo-Tibetan border, sitting at 3,450m along the Baspa river with wooden temples and apple orchards that mark the end of the accessible road in this direction. Best time is May–October. Its status as a literal endpoint — nowhere further to drive — gives it a specific pull for travelers who want to reach the edge of accessible Himachal, and the Baspa valley scenery on the way in from Sangla is consistently rated among Kinnaur's most striking stretches.
