High altitude lake, ancient monastery
Nako Village sits at 3,625m in Kinnaur, built around a small lake and an old monastery, with a traditional Kinnauri way of life that's changed little despite the village's proximity to the Kinnaur–Spiti highway. Best time is May–October. Unlike Kalpa or Sangla, which have developed more visible tourist infrastructure, Nako remains largely residential — travelers passing through on the way to Spiti often stop for an hour rather than staying, which means those who do stay overnight get a noticeably quieter experience of high-Kinnaur village life.
