Heritage village, ancient temples

Nirmand is a heritage village at 1,338m built around ancient temples and traditional Kath-Kuni wood-and-stone architecture, with a specific claim to fame: it's said to have never been conquered by outside rulers throughout its long history, giving the village an unusually intact cultural identity. Best time is October–April. Unlike Kullu's more visited temple towns, Nirmand draws very little tourist traffic despite its historical depth, making it a solid stop for travelers specifically interested in pre-colonial Himachal history and architecture rather than scenery-driven sightseeing.
