Nurpur is a Kangra town whose historical importance far outstrips its tourist profile — a partially ruined fort and the Brij Raj Swami temple sit here, remnants of a once-significant hill kingdom. At 500m, it's low-altitude and accessible year-round, though October–March brings the most comfortable weather. Unlike Kangra Fort, which draws a steadier stream of visitors, Nurpur's fort and temple see very light footfall despite comparable historical weight — worth a stop for travelers genuinely interested in Kangra's pre-colonial history rather than just its temple circuit.
